I understand Tyler's situaion. Hope he worked somthing out.

I have a similar situation
Breaking a lease due to loss of income.

I need to get out of a lease due to loss of income. My current lease contract will not release me from the remaining 7-8 months when I move out the end of this month. I have not place to live and do not think it is wise to try to re-rent at this time until I resolve this situation. I am working at considerable less income to manage the rental overhead. The landlord only offers to options for me: 1) pay the past due balance and they will not evict. 2) Find someone to take over the remaining months. I am trying to find someone, but the rental is $1185 plus $80 a month in utilities. I cannot afford to stay and can't go forward to get a new place to live that is affordable plus the expenses of moving and storage.

A third option is to possibly live "virtually" with friends, keep my current job to pay legacy and current debt and work an arrangement with the landlord to avoid legal action or worse case scenario is to quite my job move out of state with family and file bankruptcy.

I am needing to get out of a lease due to moving out of state. There are actually more reasons including getting engaged and I cant have anymore people in the studio with me also my fiance is not able to move to the state I am in right now where I came for a job. My landlord is quite the oddball to say the least. When my mom and I went apartment hunting we were very rushed to get an apartment since I was taking this job out of state and needed a place fast. He was rude to my mom and myself, kept telling me I was a big boy and can do things on my own. He also harrased my place of employment after calling them many many times to check to see if I was actually employed there. The lady that hired me was out of town attending to her mother that was very ill. He also harrased and told the Dish Network worker to leave because he didn't have his business card but was decked out in DN attire and driving a DN van. He also harrased my aunt when she came to help me move in. I am sure he has done the same to other tenants because I have heard altercations in the hallway. I know a lease is a legal binding contract but I cannot afford to have an apartment in two places and I am moving out of state. What can I do?
